While the management here at Mommarama is frankly relieved that the zoo is not involved this time, there is cause for concern.
Apparently, although he has carried the same name for approximately 15 million years (or since 1999, depending on how you count), by using it hereto forward, he is infringing upon the trademark rights of some uptight theatre folks in California.
These guys apparently wrote a whole story script--with SONGS even--about some caveman. Their incredible spurt of creativity apparently came to a vortex when they chose as the production's title a most unique and unusual caveman name: "UG".
UG is like "Madonna" or "Cher". You know, if everybody in the entire eon was named "Madonna" or "Cher".
So, according to a very scary email we received they're going to sic their fancy theater lawyers on him for using the name "UG" because the Neanderthal that's starring in their new musical comedy not only thinks he has exclusive rights to the most common caveman name in history, but is convinced that the existence of other UGs will hurt his market share.
We can only assume that they are also suing the University of Georgia, and Uganda.
You have to hand it to these guys--falling back on the trendiest American wealth-distribution system to supplement the meager salaries that the arts provide. By suing UG, they stand to make off with his entire fortune! He may have to liquidate his rocking chair and (gasp) red loincloth. And you know--we sure wouldn't want Mommarama to become one of THOSE kinds of sites...
Not the kind of guy to cause flak over mono-syllabic issues (and being as we might have to fire him for the whole naked thing) UG has decided to bow to the pressure and change his name.
Anyway, he'd rather use his meager nest egg to file a trademark application on the name "San Jose Stage Company", and let the chips fall where they may.
In the mean time, he'd like to hear from his fans regarding this little name issue. He can't seem to decide between:
1. "NIGEL the Caveman"
2. "The Caveman Formerly Known as UG"
or
3. "Donald Trump"
